During these days, the streets of the historic center are transformed into a scene of emotion and devotion. Processions, live reenactments of the story of Jesus, and an atmosphere unlike any other town in Málaga. The inhabitants truly enjoy it, and even if you’re not religious, it’s impressive to see.
Below is a summary of the most notable processions and events during this period:
Holy Wednesday (April 16):
At 9:00 p.m.: Live theater performance of The Last Supper in the Ermita del Convento.
Holy Thursday (April 17):
At 5:00 p.m.: Entrance of the Cornetas y Tambores (Cornet and Drum Band).
At 6:15 p.m.: Procession of María Santísima de la Soledad from the Ermita del Convento, accompanied by musical bands and performances of various scenes from the Passion of Christ.
At 9:15 p.m.: Reception of the National Police en la Plaza de San Sebastián.
At 9:30 p.m.: Live theater performance of The Judgment of Jesus in Plaza Nueva.
At 10:15 p.m.: Procession of the throne of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, accompanied by the Church Brotherhoods bands, where live theater of the Paso de Jesús Cautivo will take place.




Good Friday (April 18):
At 5:30 p.m: Live performance in Plaza Nueva, depicting the Handing over of the Cross to Jesus.
At 6:15 p.m: Procession of the throne of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and of María Santísima del Mayor Dolor. This procession experiences the three falls of Jesus with the cross, the encounter of the Virgen Maria with Maria Magdalena and Veronica, among other events. At the end of the procession, the traditional “encounter” between Jesus of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno of the María Santísima del Mayor Dolor will take place.
At 9:15 p.m: Live performance of the Crucifixion and death of Christ in Plaza del Convento.
At 10:45 p.m: Procession of the Holy Interment of Christ, with the throne of the Sepulcher, accompanied by the characters of the Live Passion, and the church brotherhood’s musical groups.
Holy Saturday (April 19):
At 11:00 p.m.: Live performance of the Resurrection of Christ in the Plaza Nueva.
At 11:00 p.m.: Live performance of the Resurrection of Christ in the Plaza del Convento.
Easter Sunday (April 20):
At 1:00 p.m.: Procession of the throne of Nuestro Padre Jesús Resucitado.
