It is increasingly common to travel with children. There are more and more families that want to enjoy a holiday in the company of the little ones. Malaga and the Costa del Sol are an ideal destination for those families traveling with children, since the climate allows you to enjoy many outdoor activities. Here are some proposals to make the most of your holiday with children on the Costa del Sol.

Imagination Museum

Located in the center of Malaga, in the Barrio del Soho (Martínez Campos street number 13), the Museum of Imagination is one of the places where adults become children thanks to the power of imagination.

Lights, music, shadows, or optical illusions allow the imagination to soar! Don’t forget to bring your camera! More information at http://www.museoimaginacion.com/

Interactive Museum of Music

The Interactive Museum of Music of Malaga (MIMMA), located in the historic center of Malaga ( C/ Beatas, 15), brings together more than 1,000 musical instruments from all civilizations and eras. Your visit is worth it as you learn the history of civilization through its music in an interactive and participatory way. Since its transfer to Beatas Street, the Interactive Museum of Music follows the concept of “intelligent museum”, focusing on emotions and user experience. It has “Please play” rooms, in which the public is encouraged to learn through their own experimentation, playing the instruments.

National Museum of Airports and Air Transport of Malaga

How do airplanes fly? How do you feel at the control center of an airplane? In the Aeronautical Museum of Malaga, the little ones will enjoy themselves like crazy discovering first-hand the secrets of aviation and visiting what was the first airport in Malaga. In the Aviation Museum, it is essential to touch, get in command of an airplane and even dress up as a pilot, or a flight attendant. Free admission on Tuesdays from 10am to 8pm, and from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Parks

There are many parks that are spread throughout the province of Malaga and allow for a good time of activity and recreation for the whole family. In Torremolinos, we recommend visiting the Battery Park, a huge park of 74,000 square meters, located in a watchtower overlooking the sea. It offers playgrounds for children of different ages, a Venetian-style carousel, bike path , viewpoints from where to enjoy the beautiful views, and even a lake where you can take a boat ride.

In Benalmádena is the Paloma Park ( Av. Federico García Lorca, s/n ), one of the largest parks in Europe with 200,000 square meters of green area. TripAdvisor has incorporated it into its list of the 25 most beautiful parks in Europe, accompanying such incredible places as Parc Güell in Barcelona, El Retiro de Madrid or Hyde Park in London. It has playgrounds for all ages, a lake where you can feed swans and ducks, a small zoo, a cactus garden and multiple paths to enjoy long walks, as well as bars and restaurants.

Ecoreserva Ojen

Only 10 minutes from Marbella, you can visit Eco Reserva Ojén, an old hunting ground that today is managed by environmental volunteers from Ojén and that houses a real treasure: a wildlife refuge for conservation and environmental education purposes.

Ecoreserva Ojén is an ideal place for families with children, where you can see deer, mouflon (wild sheep) and mountain goats, as well as walking among chestnut trees, cork oaks and Mediterranean mountains. You can book your visit at https://ecoreservaojen.com/visitanos. With your visit you also contribute to the conservation of this natural enclave.

The Copper Forest

The visit with children to El Bosque de Cobre, in the middle of the Serranía de Ronda, will allow them to enjoy one of the most impressive autumn prints in the interior of the province of Malaga. The Genal Valley is an abrupt area covered with chestnut trees whose leaves, when autumn comes, fall covering the mountains with brown, yellow, orange and ochre leaves. Enjoy watching the landscapes, playing with the mountains of leaves, discovering mushrooms (we do not recommend that you collect them if you are not experts in mycology).

The municipalities that form the Copper Forest ( Alpandeire, Benadalid, Benalauría, Cartajima, Faraján, Genalguacil, Igualeja, Jubrique, Júzcar, Parauta, Pujerra y Yunquera ) have an enormous tradition around the chestnut. Visiting them at any time of the year and especially in autumn is a unique opportunity to discover beautiful landscapes, a tasty gastronomy and numerous parties, some declared of tourist singularity for their provincial interest.

Selwo Adventure

In Estepona there is Selwo Aventura , a unique park where wildlife, nature and adventure are the protagonists. The little ones will be able to enjoy and get to know the great mammals of the African savannah better: cheetah, elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinos, hippos … In addition, the park offers numerous adventure activities and interaction programs such as the exclusive Visit Vip Obama and the Serengeti Safari.

Benalmádena Cable Car

Located in the Arroyo de la Miel, next to the Tívoli World Amusement Park, the Benalmádena Cable Car allows you to enjoy breathtaking views of the entire Costa del Sol thanks to the climb to Mount Calamorro. Once up, you can enjoy exhibitions of birds of prey and in the summer months, Astronomy sessions. The environment has various hiking trails, with different levels of difficulty and catering service. Nerja Caves

Entering one of the most visited caves in Andalusia is undoubtedly one of the plans that children enjoy the most. Located in Maro, district of Nerja, the visit to the Nerja Caves has a duration of 45 minutes by a cave that is in turn a historical heritage of Spain, it is the cave of the world that has more prehistoric artistic and symbolic manifestations.

The Nerja Caves have more than five hundred prehistoric artistic manifestations. Through visits you can learn a lot about the art of Upper Paleolithic and Prehistory. The painting stands out throughout the cave, filling it with reddish and black tones especially. Among the different drawings we can distinguish the figures of horses, deer, seals, birds and goats.
