Mirador de España: The Mirador de España, La Roja, near Coín, offers wide views of the town and has a central fountain. Iniesta’s mural was modified by a mural made in graffiti by the Malaga artist Doger, dedicated to the little ones with a fantasy theme.

Barranco Blanco: Barranco Blanco is a place of crystal-clear waters, white stones, and abundant vegetation, located between Alhaurín El Grande and Coín. This natural paradise, with a permanent flow of the Alaminos River, is home to otters, barbel fish, and various protected species, as well as being a Site of Community Interest (SCI). The water emerges when the river comes into contact with peridotites, magmatic rocks from the area, creating beautiful pools suitable for bathing, although caution is recommended to maintain the natural balance of the environment.
Reyna Manescau Center: The Antonio Reyna Manescau Center in Coín is dedicated to commemorating the renowned local painter (1859 – 1937) in his birthplace. The center’s galleries house an extensive collection of the artist’s original works, photographs, documents, research efforts, publications, bibliographies, personal belongings and other interesting content. These exhibitions offer visitors detailed insights into the life and exceptional artistic skill of this 19th-century master painter.
Church of San Juan Bautista:With origins in the 16th century, construction of the Church of San Juan Bautista began in 1505 and was designated as a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 2010. Queen Isabella the Catholic ordered that the land of the former Muslim fortress be given up for its construction, incorporating a square castle tower that is now the bell tower.
Guadalhorce Agricultural Market:Held every Sunday, this market offers a wide range of locally sourced products: fresh produce, bread and bakery products, sausages and other meat products, cheese, honey and various crafts. The market’s popularity is due to the freshness and high quality of its products, combined with the direct sales approach from producers to consumers, all originating from Coín.
Cachitos Street:This charming street in the heart of Coín is known for its balconies and facades decorated with numerous flower pots throughout the year. Its name comes from the pieces of colored marble that make up its pavement. Among its attractions is a mural by local artist Jalo (Juan Antonio Luna Osorio), which features a modern version of Velázquez’s famous painting “The Surrender of Breda.”
Hermitage of Our Lady of Fuensanta: This Mozarabic-style rock church, known as the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta, is located in one of the most picturesque areas of the Coín countryside, Pereila. The site is known to have existed as early as 1529, but the current structure dates back to 1680, with several renovations carried out in the 18th century.

Holy Week: March 29 to April 5. Celebrated with great devotion and tradition, it is known for its processions, the atmosphere in the streets, and the participation of historic brotherhoods that fill the town with solemnity and artistry.
53rd Coín Footrace: April 20 – The 53rd Coín Footrace is one of the oldest sporting events in Coín and boasts the highest participation. Around 5,000 people take to the streets to enjoy this celebration of sport in Coín.
Spring Festival: April 29 to May 4. An event full of music, activities, and a youthful atmosphere, where Coín celebrates the arrival of warmer weather with concerts, entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere in the town squares.
Coín Pilgrimage: May 30 to May 31. A festive and much-anticipated day in which locals and visitors accompany the Virgin Mary along rural paths, enjoying a day of community, traditional food, and nature.
Open-Air Night: This is one of the star events of Coín’s cultural program. It’s a true celebration of culture, where theater, dance, circus, music, exhibitions, a market, film screenings, and art installations fill the town center from dusk until the early hours of the morning. The street becomes a stage, a gallery, and a canvas for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
Patron Saint Festivities: August 15th. Dedicated to the Virgin of Fuensanta, these festivities combine tradition, religious ceremonies, cultural activities, and fair days that fill Coín with color, music, and popular celebrations.
New Year’s Eve: December 31st – Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the arrival of the new year in a truly special way, as the town streets become a vibrant hub of original costumes.

Recommendations for Natural Spaces and Trails 🌳

El Nacimiento Recreational Area: Is a spring located in the southern part of the town, in the area of the same name. It is a historic and emblematic place for the residents, recently adapted into a recreation area. It has picnic areas, a lake, and a Forest of Books. The Forest of Books is a small trail that runs within the recreational area and features different tree specimens dedicated to various community groups and associations of the locality, along with an inscription with a literary quote.
Llanos de Matagallar Recreational Area: The Llanos de Matagallar Recreational Area is located in front of the sports city D. José Burgos Quintana, which houses a football field and athletic tracks. This recreational area offers picnic tables, a sports maintenance circuit, a zip line, and a calisthenics circuit.
SL-A 59 Nacimiento – Mirador de Cerro Alaminos: This route is one of the most popular among the network of trails in Coín, simple, suitable for the whole family, and very interesting from a natural and scenic point of view. As its name indicates, it starts at El Nacimiento, one of the most emblematic places in Coín, and ends at Alaminos, whose viewpoint offers one of the most surprising views of the province, having been declared a Singular Spot of the Province of Málaga.
PR-A 496 Coín – Guadalhorce River Trail: This trail connects Coín with the Green Corridor, covering about 12 km along the course of the Bajo, Pereilas, Grande, and Guadalhorce rivers. It is a simple route suitable for the whole family. During the route, we will walk among the riparian vegetation, including almond trees, white poplars, poplars, tamarisks, willows, reeds, rushes, and bulrushes, as well as eucalyptus and cultivated fields dominated by citrus fruits. Along the route, we can observe a varied fauna, including birds, turtles, amphibians, fish, and even some foxes.
PR-A 311 Castillejos Trail: Perhaps this is one of the most impressive trails in Coín, due to its length, difficulty, the need for orientation skills, but above all for the landscapes and spectacular views it offers. Without diminishing the fact that we will reach two of the most emblematic peaks of the Negra and Alpujata mountains: Cerro del Águila with 1,034 meters, which serves as a lookout over the Mediterranean, and Pico Castillejos with 1,073 meters, representing the highest point of the mountain range.
